Tree Of Life

This is my newest creation Tree Of Life. Here is a photo of her in her beginning stages and two of her near completion.

The Tree Of Life shows up in many cultures. The roots grow up into the sky with the branches reaching down into the earth. Here is where we understand that the material world and the spiritual world are but a reflection of one another as in the reflection of a tree at the water's edge. I have sculpted this piece in a Yoga pose called Adho Mukha Vrksasana which is translated as "Downward Facing Tree". The Tree Of Life is symbolized by the Banyon tree which is thought of as perfectly symbolizing life due to it's unending expansion.

Next sculpture is "Animal Prints Are In This Year'. This is a wild girl, wearing her skin proudly and not choosing to wear the coat of another.

Also a pic of her before painting because it shows the musculature that didn't come out in the photos of her painted.

Butterly Dancer

So I My new piece--Butterfly Dancer. I have her up on ebay at last. The pic on the left is with her coloring. These are the photos of her that I have of her body. She has beautiful wings coming out from her arms in the tradition of the Butterfly Dancers (not a fairy).

I Dream Of Samarai

This piece was sculpted in full and anatomically correct before I began to place her adornments and dress her. I do this with all of my dolls. It just seems like cheating to do otherwise and I know that she is whole beneath her dressings. Besides the practice sculpting is edging me toward being a better sculptor for which I aspire. I don't think anyone ever becomes so adept at anything that there isn't room for improvement and I will always strive to be better. I placed a rod into her armor to suspend her on her pedestal so that she would hover in mid air. The photos of her body are over exposed but they are all I have. You can see the progress. For her armor I used very fine metallic powder which you then burnish (rub) to buff it out. For her dress she is wearing many different versions of silk and her hair is made of humanely shorn mohair.

Shadow Dancer

My how I looooved creating this piece. As a dancer in the past and a Yogini now I have always been mesmerized by the human form and sculpting it is so much like a dance in itself. I hope you will enjoy her as much as I have. This gal would be 18" tall if standing. She is SOLD. Thanks for visiting.

Harpy

My newest peice that I am currently creating. She will be a Harpy balancing on a copper sphere. Here is a photo of her beginning stage. I so love this Paperclay. I worked in ceramics years ago in figurative sculpture selling my work in galleries and at shows around New Mexico. Clay is a wonderful medium and it's messy. The dust and then the firing and never knowing if your piece might warp or even explode from unseen air bubbles could be a real drag. With so many moves of late, one across country and the other from a mold ridden house to a new mountain home I have been looking for something that wouldn't be as messy, less temperamental and less likely to burn up or even crack when being fired as in Polyclay. With Paperclay it dries harder then Polyclay, is lighter in weight and much stronger. Truly a wondrous product. I am so very excited--can you tell :) Well off again to work on my Harpy girl. SOLD.

My newest piece based upon the brilliance of Alexander McQueen. The Red Stag Bride. She is soft yet haunting and expectant of her mate. The great Red Stag. Her stand is Paperclay as well with tiny little fall leaves, each handmade one at a time. She wears white wedding lace and silk. Her hair is Mohair. Her veil is of silk as well. The Greek myth of Leda and The Swan has inspired so many artists, storytellers, poets. I in turn have been inspired by them and created a beauty that has spung from the loins of Leda and Zeus, her disguised lover, cloaked within the image of a swan.

Her she is in contemplation of the beauty of the mortal world of this lovely planet earth of which she traverses both the heavens and earth in grace.
